LIC Linked Accidental Death Benefit Rider

LIC’s Linked Accidental Death Benefit Rider (UIN 512A211V02) is an individual, linked life rider for ULIP plans that pays an extra lump sum if death is due to an accident.

Nature and attachment

  • Type: Individual, linked life rider (for ULIPs only, e.g., Index Plus, Nivesh Plus, SIIP, Protection Plus where allowed).
  • Purpose: Provide additional accidental‑death cover over and above the base ULIP’s death benefit, for a small extra charge.
  • Attachment: Can be taken only with eligible linked (ULIP) base plans; for traditional plans LIC uses the separate Accident Benefit / AD&DB riders.

Benefit

  • If the life assured meets with an accident while the rider is in force and dies within 180 days of that accident, solely and directly due to that accident, the nominee receives an additional amount equal to the Accident Benefit Sum Assured under this rider.
  • This is paid over and above the base ULIP’s death benefit (Sum Assured/fund value etc.).
  • No benefit is payable for non‑accidental (natural) deaths; then, only the base policy’s death benefit is paid.
  • No maturity/surrender value arises under the rider; if the life assured survives the term, nothing is payable from this rider.
